who i am
The number four cannot kill me, but for a long time, I thought it could.
As a writer of poetry and fiction, it is important that I showcase the moments in life that define the individual. My experiences as a funeral director, journalist, and copy editor have given me a unique appreciation for what makes us human, and I believe that simple acts— nodding to a stranger or spilling coffee on the counter by accident — are sacred. We are raw and we are beautiful.
My husband David and I both live and work in Colorado, but regardless of occupation, I will always find new ways to express my perceptions, my musings, and my love. Perhaps we have a few of these in common.
My Work

The Age of a Lobster
Literary Fiction / Coming-of-age
Best Indie Book Award Finalist (2024)
Ian Marlow has everything it takes to be a great mortician - innate kindness, a strong sense of humor, and determined insomnia. Even so, managing a profitable funeral home in the heart of Colorado was never something that the twenty-three year old hoped to do with his life, and Ian is trapped reflecting on the exciting romance he shared with the wild at heart Andrew Reyes in California five years prior. When Alli, Ian's estranged cousin, calls to invite him back to San Diego, Ian realizes that this trip is exactly what he needs - an opportunity to live authentically free from expectation.
